Red Ribbon Club
Red Ribbon Club is a voluntary on-campus intervention program for students. It aims to create awareness among the students about HIV, AIDS and other related diseases. Our institutional objectives of the RRC activities are to encourage the students to extend their humanitarian services to the society and to bring about behaviour change in younger minds.
Mrs. G. Uma, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics is our Co-ordinator of the RRC program.
Our institution effectively conducting various activities every year like blood donation camps, programs on various public welfare related issues and health awareness programs, first aid training and motivate our students volunteer to contribute the service to needy people.
RRC Activities conducted by Red Ribbon Club , Anna University, University College of Engineering, Dindigul.
RRC Member Orientation Program , “Celebrating Life” was conducted. The resource person for the program was Ms. J. Jesintha, RRC District Manager, Dindigul. The program has developed an eye-opener for the students related to the prevailing HIV-AIDS diseases. In her speech enlightened the precautionary measures to be taken to avoid HIV-AIDS disease. She also clearly explained the causes and real life situation of the infected HIV patients. Really this programme has become enthusiastic among the students to clarify the doubts from the resource person regarding this disease. For this programme the Dean, Faculty and students were participated.
Interactive Training Session was also conducted on the same day. In this session, HIV positive speaker has shared her the real-time experience in facing the society which has drastic impact among the participants to realize her life situation and how she has overcoming all these difficulties to live peaceful life. She also narrated her experience in fighting out of her problems in the society. Her speech has made the participants to realize her pathetic situation and also to treat them as human.
In Peer Education Activity schedule, Peer Education training was conducted in our college campus which was conducted by RRC Programme Officer to educate them in involving such needful activities for our society in future endeavor.
Under the Competition Programme , the Poster Making and Rangoli competition having the theme of AIDS and Blood Donation. The students are mostly fascinated to participate in these two competitions. Most of them get eagerly involved in their activities to win a prize in the competitions. The winners were appreciated with Prizes .
Exposure Visit was conducted. Exposure visit was arranged for 15 students to visit the Arulagam Hospice. In this visit, the students get the real time experience of the service adapted by Arulagam Hospice to the mankind of the society.
Our campus nominated as co-ordinating centres for conducting One – day RRC Peer Educators Training Programme for RRC Programme Officers and student volunteers. 12 colleges and 36 students in and around Dindigul district were participated and benefited.
